Thank you Alan Rickman!

This morning I woke up to the news that Alan Rickman had passed.

If you don’t know who Alan Rickman is then shame on you. Ok, not really. That may be a bit too harsh. But, you should go watch a movie or two or eight with him in it.

One of my favorite characters of in literature was brought to life because of the talents of this gifted actor. The complexity of the human experience was on full display, first on the pages of the Harry Potter books by J. K. Rowlings pen and then on the silver screen in Rickman’s performances.

Life is never cut in straight lines. It is nuanced and ragged, at times, around the edges. Alan Rickman brought Severus Snape to life. So much so that I hated him until I learned why he deserved to be respected. I mourned the character when he achieved his destiny and fulfilled his vow. Today, I mourn the actor who imbued that character with life.

Great little interview about Rickman playing the role of Snape.
