One of the most important realities of life is that there are no “do overs.” What this means is life must be lived each and every day. This may sound odd at first, but I have found myself thinking about what I am filling my years with. I do not want to look back on the moments that I have been given and have a regret. I know that I will miss opportunities. But, that is not what I mean. A regret is something that follows you around because you cannot go back and change it and it’s too late to do anything about it.
In January of this year I began serving in the ministry my father started. Even though I was excited about the possibility of working with him, I was not sure how it would work out. I have to say that it has been a dream come true. I still get up every morning and it feels like I am on vacation. I do not know if that is how it is supposed to feel when you get to do what you have doing for a while. I must know that I am glad that I have this chance.
In this season of Lent I hope to remember to enjoy the ride. God is a gift-giving God. I should do all that I can to be thankful for what he has provided. This is not always easy, but it is necessary.
